Frequently asked questions
Tracking, pricing, restrictions, collections and claims — the answers we give most often.
Pricing
- Air freight is $11 per chargeable kilogram, and sea freight is $210 per cubic metre, from both China and Dubai to Ghana. Both rates include customs clearance. Vehicles are priced individually because condition and size vary too much for a fixed rate.
- The greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight, where volumetric weight is length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6000. Aircraft run out of space before they run out of lift, so a large light consignment is charged for the room it occupies. If your goods are bulky, sea freight is usually far cheaper.
- A CBM is a cubic metre — length × width × height in metres. Sea freight is billed at $210 per CBM with a one CBM minimum, then pro-rata above that. So 0.6 CBM is billed as 1 CBM, and 2.4 CBM is billed as 2.4. The minimum exists because even a small consignment needs a full booking, a customs entry and handling at both ends.
- It depends entirely on your cargo. As a rough guide, sea wins on anything bulky or over about 20 kg, and air wins on small dense items where the waiting time matters. Enter your consignment in the calculator and you will see both prices side by side.
Routes
- We ship from China and Dubai into Ghana. That is deliberate: we run consolidation warehouses at both origins and clear at Kotoka and Tema ourselves, which is what keeps the rates flat and the timings predictable.
- Yes. Give your supplier our warehouse address in China or Dubai and they deliver to us. If you are buying from several suppliers we hold the goods and consolidate them into a single shipment at no extra charge.
Vehicles
- Because a formula would give you the wrong number. Whether a vehicle runs, its exact dimensions, whether it can be driven onto a vessel and what paperwork it carries all change the cost significantly. We would rather look at it and give you a figure that holds.
- Yes, including accident-damaged vehicles. Non-running vehicles need winching on and off, which costs more, so tell us the condition when you request a quote and the price you get will already account for it.
Customs
- Clearance is included in the published rates. Import duty and taxes levied by the Ghana Revenue Authority are separate and payable by you — we tell you what is owed before the goods land, so there is no surprise at the port.
- Cash, weapons, narcotics, counterfeit goods, live animals and anything prohibited under Ghanaian import law. Batteries, liquids, chemicals and aerosols are restricted and need to be declared before booking — some can travel by sea but not by air.
Tracking
- Immediately. The number is issued when the shipment is created, and the timeline updates from the first scan onward — so you can share it before the goods have even left the warehouse.
- Ocean legs are long and quiet. A vessel from China to Tema is typically 35 to 50 days at sea with no scan in between. The timeline shows the last confirmed position and the expected arrival; if a shipment passes its promised window it is flagged and our team is alerted automatically.
